'Delivering a good massage for me is about listening through my hands, and speaking through touch.'

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I have a level 3 NVQ diploma in Holistic Massage with additional training in joint manipulation

I am currently working towards my level 4 diploma in Shiatsu at the Shiatsu College in Manchester

What type of massage is offered?

The massage techniques I like to use draw on a variety of massage styles, and combine long gliding strokes with kneading, friction and / or tapping and percussion. Oil is usually used to assist my hands, wrists and elbows to 'glide' accross the skin of the receiver, who is often undressed down to the underwear and kept warm under a freshly heated towel. The benefits to the individual of massage are numerous, including a sense of well-being, improved circulation, as well as relaxation and the release of chronic tension.

What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a form of massage therapy which was developed in Japan, and is based on traditional chinese medicine's understanding of pressure points and the moving of energy or Qi. Applying pressure to specific points along energy channels distributed throughout the body is beneficial because it can work deeply with your body to help organs which are struggling to function normally, and to assist your body's functions overall. Shiatsu is an ancient healing art with a whole-body, whole-person centred approach to well-ness.
